Overview

McCormick Taylor is looking for Environmental Inspectors at varying levels for an energy infrastructure project  spanning several WV and VA counties.  The position is to fill the staffing needs for the duration of the project which is expected to begin this summer and last approximately 18 – 24 months.  

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing implementation of all pertinent environmental plans, permit conditions, and mitigation measures.
  • Coordination with regulatory agency inspectors, construction management staff, contractors, and client project staff relative to project specific environmental requirements.
  • Overseeing installation, maintenance, and removal of erosion and sediment control measures, including photo documentation.
  • Overseeing work within wetlands and waterbodies, including compliance with the approved plans and photo documentation before, during, and after construction and restoration;
  • Overseeing right-of-way restoration including reseeding;
  • Overseeing implementation of the Unanticipated Discovery Plan, including notification to the Lead Environmental Inspector and establishing and maintaining the exclusion zone;
  • Review and coordination of proposed variances and coordination with the appropriate project staff for processing;
  • Completion of daily inspection reports including photo documentation, daily work description, and tracking of wetland and waterbody crossings and restoration.
  • Overseeing spill response, including implementation of applicable clean up procedures and reporting.
  • Overseeing installation of applicable  signage and flagging relative to sensitive environmental areas, regulated natural resources, access, and other limited use areas.
  • Will work full-time once construction activities commence on the pipeline right-of-way and will be responsible for inspecting and tracking construction activities.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS Degree in environmental science, biological resources, or equivalent preferred
  • 0-8+  years of experience in erosion and sedimentation control or pipeline construction
  • Working knowledge of environmental aspects of a pipeline construction project; Includes but not limited to: wetland crossings, stream crossings, agricultural lands, residential construction, cultural resources, and erosion and sediment control design and implementation.
  • Previous experience working on a pipeline project a plus
  • Soil science background and/or experience a plus
  • Amenable to a flexible schedule including weekend work and necessary travel.
