Overview

The Accounting Department of McCormick Taylor is actively seeking a Project Accountant for full-time employment in its headquarters located in Philadelphia, PA. The candidate will be part of a team that will act as a liaison between the accounting department and the technical staff. The ideal applicant will be someone who communicates effectively, takes initiative, and maintains the highest level of detail in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Manager with financial components of proposals, including optimal rates and multipliers
  • Coordinate project initiation with the Project Manager to ensure that projects are set up in accordance with the terms of the Contract. 
  • Responsible to review the contract and understand the contract terms regarding Contract Type, scope of work and invoicing terms
  • Assist Project Manager with planning dollars/man-hours for the life of the project
  • Assist Project Manager with tracking sub consultant contracts and reviewing sub consultant invoices to ensure billing is not beyond the contract limit
  • Assist Project Manager with preparation of status updates for all projects
  • Ensure that the current budget reflects original as-sold contract plus all client approved changes
  • Monitor weekly and monthly financial performance of projects.
  • Identify potential project performance issues and assist the PM in developing a corrective action plan, if necessary
  • Perform project analysis and prepare reports upon request for management review

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 of years of related experience in Project Accounting or Finance
  • Ability to multitask throughout entirety of a project life cycle and complete projects on time with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment
  • Strong organization and mathematical skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and be detail oriented
  • Strong analytical, written and verbal skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Prior work experience at an Engineering/Architectural firm preferred
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables and vlookups) is required.
  • Proficiency in Deltek Vision a strong plus
