  • Overview

    McCormick Taylor's Salisbury, MD office is seeking a Designer/Engineer with a BS in Civil Engineering and 2-5 years' experience to join and support our growing Energy group. Experience in Site Design, Water Resources, Erosion & Sediment Control, etc., is preferred. Previous experience with Electric/Gas Utilities and permitting experience is a plus.


    • Support civil design efforts for various electrical substation, distribution, and transmission projects
    • Support the design of Erosion and Sediment Control Plans for linear utility and transportation projects.
    • Support the design of Site Plans to include Grading, Storm Water Management features, and Access Roads
    • Conduct field oversight of construction projects to ensure compliance with approved engineering plan documents
    • Conduct and coordinate with project managers
    • Perform site development design plan review, including constructability, drainage, grading and utility coordination


    • 2-5 years' experience with applicable type of construction (utility, transmission, substation, transit, roadway, bridge)
    • Knowledge of local environmental regulations is preferred ( Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and New Jersey)
    • Excellent communications skills and technical writing skills are a must
    • Construction oversight and/or inspection experience is preferred
    • Engineer-In-Training with BS-Civil Engineering (Water Resource or Environmental emphasis preferred) and up to two years of experience or internships, preferred.
    • Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Access & Word) plus have working knowledge of CADD. Experience in Microstation/Inroads also a plus.
    • Working knowledge of MDSHA transportation, pavement design/analysis, drainage, stormwater management and E&S control as they relate to design also a plus
