    We are looking a Safety Manager to lead and promote McCormick Taylor’s safety efforts for our 450+ person engineering and environmental services.  This is an exciting leadership position for someone hoping to help create and maintain a safe working environment.  We are looking for a detail-orientated persona to spearhead the administration, management, implementation, training and enforcement of the McCormick Taylor's safety programs, policies, and procedures in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, as well as McCormick Taylor’s internal processes and policies.

     

    This position can be based in any of McCormick Taylor’s offices, with a preference for the Philadelphia region.  The hours for this position will be Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Extended workdays or weekends with travel will be required on an as needed basis to perform training in any one of McCormick Taylor’s 16 office locations and safety audits at project sites during scheduled field work.

     

     

    Responsibilities

    • Ensure that operations follow federal, state, and local laws and regulations and standards, client contractual terms and conditions, as well as McCormick Taylor’s internal company processes and policies.
    • Research regulations, standards and policies and institute changes to ensure compliance.
    • Prepare and maintain organized filing for all safety documentation and reporting including PICS, ISNet, etc., as required by regulatory agencies and/or clients; Work directly with HR regarding OSHA logs (300, 300A)
    • Organize a team of regional Safety Coordinators to form a Safety Committee to oversee implementation of policies and procedures.
    • Coordinate with HR and Safety Committee to develop site and project specific safety plans, training programs, audit protocols, and supporting safety programs
    • Ability to effectively communicate, train and coach Safety Coordinators, as well as varying levels of employees in the organization and subcontractors
    • Review, evaluate, assess and analyze work environments and procedures to help control, eliminate, and prevent injury and/or illness caused by chemical, physical, and ergonomic factors, as well as recommend necessary changes to policies and procedures that affect operations and employees
    • Alert managers, leadership and project teams to any hazards, suspend employee activities and recommend mitigation
    • Aid project and department managers to provide information and ensure compliance with company safety programs, procedures, and policies
    • Lead and document all accident investigations with assistance from Office Safety Coordinators; coordinate with HR to communicate findings as required
    • Perform periodic jobsite safety inspections; prepare documentation and report findings.
    • In coordination with HR and Finance, forward relevant information/material to federal and state agencies and to company insurance carrier(s) as required
    • Provide and prepare safety-related information for marketing materials
    • Serve as the Safety Manager for projects/contracts/proposals as required
    • Work with HR providing administrative and technical guidance to help develop and implement project specific safety programs for existing and new projects, as needed, including but not limited to safety incentive programs and post-accident alcohol and drug testing.
    • Develop and maintain safety databases and internal communications through the Company intranet.
    • Develop annual budget for the Company’s Safety Program and supporting activities (coordinate with other departments and Operations Team regarding training).
    • Obtain input from and coordinate with the Marketing Team and HR to publicize safety and communicate information regarding policies and procedures.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree preferred; Safety Management, Safety Sciences, Environmental Sciences, or other related and applicable fields
    • A minimum of five years’ experience in environmental health and safety, preferably in the construction industry.
    • Experience and demonstrated knowledge in Federal OSHA, USEPA, DOT, ISNetworld.
    • Certified Safety Professional a plus.
    • Experience preferable in the transportation, energy/utilities, and civil/heavy construction projects.
    • Must have knowledge of/familiarity with federal, state, and local laws, rules, andregulations regarding occupational health and safety, and hazardous materials/wastes.
    • Ability to prepare safety training curriculum and deliver training. Knowledge of OSHA, and job hazard analysis.
    • Travel, as well as extensive time spent in the field, will be required – a valid driver’s license, as well as access to a personal vehicle capable suitable for field work on project sites, will be required.
    • Must work well under pressure and be goal and deadline oriented.
    • Excellent computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
