    McCormick Taylor, Inc. is currently seeking a talented, motivated and experienced Multimodal Transportation Planner/Engineer in our Baltimore, Maryland office. This position will require a strong understanding of multimodal transportation planning and/or engineering experience.  The ideal candidate is an individual with strong work ethic, a desire to learn, and is ambitious.

    Responsibilities

    Major duties include:

    • Successfully manage large- and small-scale transportation planning/engineering projects for public-sector clients, including state DOTs, transit agencies, regional planning entities and MPOs, and county and local governments.
    • Conduct all project management activities with a high level of attention to detail including: budgeting, scheduling, allocation of resources, client coordination, preparation of materials and quality control.
    • Conduct various business development activities, including marketing transportation planning/engineering services, proposal preparation, presentations/interviews, and attending conferences and industry networking events.
    • Ability to collaborate successfully with clients and anticipate their needs.
    • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
    • Ability to provide mentorship to less-experienced staff.

    Desirable Technical Expertise:

    Transportation planning/engineering activities: solid multimodal transportation planning/design experience, including an understanding of complete streets principles; sustainability and resiliency assessments/plans; transit planning; community and comprehensive plans; strong understanding of GIS; public outreach, etc.

    Qualifications

    Qualifications:

    • 10+ years of progressive experience in the field of multimodal transportation planning/engineering.
    • Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral.
    • Exceptional organizational and managerial skills.
    • Demonstrated proposal-writing skills and business development experience.
    • Well-established client relationships in the industry/geographic region.
    • Project schedule / budget accountability, client interface, interaction with other internal offices and staff development.
    • Solid understanding of GIS and spatial concepts
    • Desire to collaborate with other across disciplines and across other company offices
    • Active participation in at least one relevant professional organization
    • Ability to think creatively and bring big ideas and innovation to each project, where practical.
    • Must possess a valid Maryland driver’s license to travel to various site locations and meetings.

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, planning or related field is required.  MS is preferred.  AICP or PE is also preferred.
