    McCormick Taylor is seeking a Structural Designer to join our team in our Mount Laurel, NJ office. The primary duties of the Structural Designer are to serve in a technical role under the direction of a Professionally Licensed Project Manager on the engineering development of urban and rural highway/transportation projects with structural elements such as bridges, box culverts, retaining walls, and moment slabs. Experience should include structural design of reinforced concrete, steel, and prestressed concrete. Foundation design and specific bridge design experience are preferred but not required.

    Responsibilities

    • Great opportunity to work on small, medium, and high profile design projects in New Jersey and Mid-Atlantic region.
    • Perform engineering calculations and quantity take offs
    • Will have the opportunity to work on multi-discipline engineering projects under mentoring licensed professionals
    • Develop and evaluate project plans and design criteria for a variety of structural design projects
    • Develop plans, details, and specifications for structural design projects
    • Able to work in a design team environment
    • Be able to demonstrate a good understanding of basic engineering principles and apply them in your daily tasks
    • On assignments involving investigations and planning, works to learn the fundamentals of engineering processes and to apply them successfully
    • On design assignments, works to learn how to clearly convey the design intent through engineering drawings and specifications

    Qualifications

    • BS in Civil Engineering required
    • 0-3+ years of experience in the design of structural, civil engineering and transportation projects desired
    • Have already taken and passed FE/EIT preferred
    • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
    • Demonstrate basic proficiency with MicroStation or similar CADD platform, have strong technical skills, and possess the ability to learn and apply new skills quickly and efficiently
    • Need to be a self-starter with problem solving abilities
    • Proficiency in Microsoft software packages Word, Excel, and Office is required
